Ashwagandha root is a valued herb of the Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine. This is an adaptogenic herb, meaning that it adapts to the horse’s experience and balances the mood.
Vervain is a nervine relaxant and antispasmodic it can assist animals who are tense and sensitive by relaxing the gut, peripheral nerves and muscles, allowing them to perform without “burning up” their energy through anxiety.
Chamomile has the same relaxing properties for animals as it does a human, soothing both the nervous and digestive systems. This is particularly relevant for animals who are of an anxious nature and/or produce loose droppings.
Agnus Cactus/Chaste tree berry supports normal functioning of the pituitary gland by naturally balancing and maintaining dopamine levels produced by the gland. It also balances out progesterone levels, making it a good option for ‘moody’ mares. And because of its hormone-balancing effects, it can aid in calming overly-aggressive stallions or geldings as well.

We all know of that moody mare or that gelding that thinks he's still a stallion! Herbs can be a far better alternative for treating an equines issues as they can often effect a permanent change in temperament, and many can be legal for competition.Herbs nourish, strengthen and re-balance the nervous system so that once an anxious temperamental equine calms down they will no longer react to things around them. In dealing with nervous disorders, there are no 'magic' quick fixes in treating an equine that has a nervous, temperament, it's very important to look at the equine's whole history both health and past experiences such as training, traumas, etc....
